Dr. Dre is the founder of Death Row Records and Aftermath Entertainment, and the definitive architect of West Coast gangsta rap and G-funk. His sample catalog draws heavily from Parliament-Funkadelic, Leon Haywood, and 70s funk records that he combines with live instrumentation and programmed drums.
Dre combines P-Funk bass lines with live session players, creating a hybrid sound that sounds both sampled and original. He prefers George Clinton's catalog and West Coast soul records.
