Terms of Service

The short version

By using Goat Music, you agree to these terms. We provide the service as-is, you keep ownership of your ratings and reviews, and either of us can walk away. The rest of this page covers the edge cases.

Acceptance

By creating an account or otherwise using Goat Music ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and by our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree to either, please don't use the Service.

Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use Goat Music. If you are between 13 and the age of majority where you live, you represent that a parent or legal guardian has reviewed and agreed to these terms on your behalf.

Your account

You sign in via an OAuth provider (Google, Apple, Spotify, SoundCloud). You're responsible for keeping access to that provider account secure and for any activity on Goat Music attributable to your account. Tell us at abuse@goatmusic.me if you believe your account has been used without authorization.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Break any applicable law or third-party right.
• Post content that is unlawful, harassing, defamatory, hateful, or that infringes someone else's intellectual property.
• Impersonate another person or misrepresent your affiliation with anyone.
• Attempt to access another user's account or any part of the Service you're not authorized to access.
• Probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the Service, or breach any security or authentication measure.
• Scrape, spider, or otherwise extract data from the Service in bulk without our prior written permission.
• Use the Service to send spam or to upload malicious code.
• Use Track IDs to upload full-length copyrighted recordings you do not have the right to share. The feature is for brief identification clips only; see our Privacy Policy for how clips and optional automatic recognition are processed.

Your content

You retain ownership of the ratings, reviews, board entries, tier-list placements, and any other content you create on Goat Music ("Your Content"). By posting Your Content, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, display, reproduce, and distribute it within the Service — for example, to render your public profile to other signed-in users or to render an embed of your tier list on a friend's page. This license ends when you delete the content or delete your account, except to the extent another user has previously interacted with it (e.g. a screenshot taken by a third party is outside our control).

Music metadata and album artwork

Album titles, artist names, release dates, cover artwork, and related metadata are sourced from third-party music services (Spotify, Apple Music, SoundCloud, and similar). They are owned by their respective rights holders and displayed for the purpose of identifying the work being rated or reviewed. We don't claim any rights in this material, and we'll remove specific items at the request of the rights holder where appropriate.

Copyright and DMCA

We respect the intellectual property rights of others and expect users to do the same. If you believe that material on Goat Music infringes a copyright you own or control, please send a written notice to dmca@goatmusic.me with the following information:

• A physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner or authorised agent.
• Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to be infringed.
• Identification of the infringing material and information sufficient for us to locate it (e.g. a URL).
• Your contact information (name, address, phone number, and email).
• A statement that you have a good-faith belief that use of the material is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
• A statement, made under penalty of perjury, that the information is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorised to act on their behalf.

We will respond to valid notices promptly. Repeat infringers may have their accounts terminated. Counter-notices may be submitted to the same address.

Third-party services

Goat Music integrates with Spotify, Apple Music, Google (YouTube), SoundCloud, and other third parties. Your use of those services through Goat Music is also governed by their respective terms and privacy policies. We don't control them and aren't responsible for their availability, accuracy, or decisions.

Our intellectual property

The Goat Music name, logo, brand marks, software, and the visual design of the Service are our property and protected by applicable laws. Nothing in these terms transfers any of those rights to you, except for the limited license to use the Service for its intended purpose.

Termination

You can stop using Goat Music at any time and delete your account from Settings → Delete Account. We can suspend or terminate your account if you violate these terms or if we reasonably believe your use is harming the Service or other users; we'll give you reasonable notice where it's practical to do so. Sections of these terms that by their nature should survive termination — including ownership, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and indemnification — will survive.

Service provided "as is"

Goat Music is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, statutory, or otherwise. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all implied warranties — including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any data you provide will be preserved permanently.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Goat Music and its operator shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, whether incurred directly or indirectly, or any loss of data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses resulting from your use of the Service. Our total liability for all claims relating to the Service is limited to the greater of US $100 or the amount you paid us in the twelve months prior to the claim (which, if you're using the free service, is zero).

Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold us harmless from any claim or demand made by a third party arising from content you post to the Service, your violation of these terms, or your violation of any law or right of a third party.

Paid subscriptions

Goat Pro will be available at $4 per month or $36 per year. By subscribing, you authorize recurring payment from your selected payment method. You can cancel your subscription at any time from your Account settings, and the cancellation will take effect at the end of the current billing cycle.

We offer a 14-day money-back guarantee on new subscriptions. If you're not satisfied within 14 days of purchase, you can request a full refund with no questions asked. Contact us at support@goatmusic.me.

Subscription pricing is subject to change. We will provide at least 30 days' notice of any price increase. Continued use of Goat Pro after a price increase constitutes acceptance of the new price.

Affiliate links

Some links on Goat Music — including links to music streaming services, retailers, and other third-party products — are affiliate links. If you click one and make a purchase or sign up for a service, we may receive a commission at no additional cost to you. Affiliate relationships do not influence editorial decisions: ratings, reviews, and rankings reflect genuine listener opinion, not commercial arrangements.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. The exclusive venue for any dispute arising from or relating to the Service or these terms is the state and federal courts located in the State of California.

Changes

We may update these terms from time to time. If we make a material change, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top and, for significant changes, surface a notice the next time you sign in. Continued use of the Service after a change means you accept the updated terms.
